Holidays: make the most of them
comercio square in lisbon

With the upcoming holidays and the bad weather going away, it’s time to get out of the couch and the afternoons at the movies.

The Portuguese capital offers a wide variety of activities to mark Freedom Day (April 25th) and Labor Day (May 1st), with the family or friends.

Follow our proposals and make the most of the upcoming holidays:

Art in Lisbon

Lisboa W-E: On the lawn of the Lisbon Museum, in the Pimenta Palace, a large photographic exhibition by José Manuel Costa Alves will be displayed. The photographer portrayed the maritime route along the riverside area in a unique and unusual way. The exhibition can be seen between 10am and 6pm and admission is free.

“Gaza Girls: Growing Up in the Gaza Strip”: It is a creation of the photojournalist Monique Jacques, who presents a photographic reflection on the lives of young women who grow up in the convulsed territory of the Middle East. Head to Parque das Nações and the Alameda dos Oceanos to get to know this exhibition.

Let’s go to the theatre!

O Deus da Carnificina: This play, which includes the staging of Diogo Infante, Jorge Mourato, Patricia Tavares and Rita Salema, will be on display at the Trinity Theater until the 29th of April. Enjoy the holiday eve and go see this comedy that portrays values and ethics questions of the middle class.

O Principezinho: The story of the gold-haired boy and the rider lost in the desert deserves to be known by kids and grown-ups. If you have not yet had the opportunity to watch this performance in the musical theater version, head to Teatro da Trindade until April 29th.

Free activities

Watch the stars: The Calouste Gulbenkian Planetarium offers free sky observation sessions with outdoor telescopes as well as a lecture with an astronomical investigator to remove any doubts about the universe. Get the family together and go see the stars. Before that, sign up on the website of the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences to ensure your place.

Play with strangers: Ever wondered if you could join friends and spend an afternoon playing board games? At Temptations Pastry, in Picoas, it is possible. Every Wednesday more than 50 people meet to play. Enjoy the 25th of April to spend a different and fun day.

Thinking about the children

Angry Birds Exhibition: The exhibition inspired by the game that put people from 8 to 80 years old protecting eggs from birds of Green Pigs arrived at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento. There are 1,200 m2 of exhibition in two rooms, and it opens at 10 o’clock in the morning.

Jumping on Bounce: There are over 100 trampolines to make the whole family jump. There are trampolines for athletes and advanced gymnasts (like those of the Super Tramp, with 5×5 meters), but also zones reserved for the young ones, like the miniBOUNCE. This space is located on Avenida dos Cavaleiros, in Lisbon, and it doesn’t close on public holidays.
